Smaller than advertised

My son has a stunningly average-shaped head that measures 51cm in
circumference. It was impossible to get this helmet onto his head
without some KY and a rubber mallet.
Otherwise, it looked well-constructed (and cool). I'm disappointed that we had to send it back for being too small.

The helmet looks great and seems well constructed, but is unquestionably smaller than what is advertised.
The "child" or 5-8 year-old size states it will fit 51-54cm head size, but my son's head is 53 centimeters and the helmet does not come close to fitting.
After measuring of the helmet's interior circumference I believe it fits head sizes closer to 48-51cm.

Runs really small. Despite saying it's appropriate to ages 5-8, this
was much too small for my 4 year old. Who has a normal sized head. And
it's not a matter of moving pads around. Very cool design, though, and
looks pretty durable.

My son puts this helmet on for fun. I bought several helmets for my
two-year-old son before I found this helmet. It's crazy cute, I think
my husband is jealous. Anyway the combination of a good fit, easy to
adjust, and the fact my son is not just willing but likes to wear it
makes this a helmet above all others.

Even though my son is about to turn 6, he needs the
Toddler sized 3-5 one. I bought the 5-7 size first and it was much too
big. But we'll keep it because he'll grow into it. I didn't see it
before, but there is a size guideline on the web that can help for
fitting. I suggest using it to match your child's size, not their age

What a cool BB8 bike helmet. The antennas and two circles extend out
of the helmet to give it a more realistic look. My grandson loves this
helmet and wears it around in the house, not just when riding his bike.
He's 5 and the youth helmet fits him fine. The outer shell is plastic
and the inside is Styrofoam. Definitely not for extreme biking or
boarding but for a 5 year old it will be just fine. The chin strap is
nylon and adjustable so it can be adjusted to fit snug. Overall, I'm
very pleased but not as much as my grandson, he loves it!
